Scuba divers and snorkelling fans have been advised to visit South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal region by tourism officials.
People interested in underwater adventures can visit Aliwal Shoal and Protea Banks on the south coast, which offer “excellent” scuba diving areas.
The region is well-known for its spectacular coastline, and three of its beaches – Ramsgate, Marina Beach and Lucien – also boast prestigious Blue Flag status.
Travellers can also engage themselves in a number of other leisure activities on offer.
Lebohang Mokhesi, UK country manager for South African Tourism, said: “For those wanting to see the wild side and commune with nature, Umtamvuna Nature Reserve is a must see. A reserve which conserves plants found nowhere else in the world.”
Furthermore, those embarking on scuba diving holidays to South Africa over the next two months can enjoy the annual sardine migration.
To celebrate the wonder of the natural world, a sardine festival is also conducted at the same time.
